Which Social Media Is Best For Actors? - Modelfactory

Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, Clubhouse… What social media platforms should actors be on these days?

The truth is that an actor doesn't have to have any social media accounts to be successful. Take Jesse Mueller, Tony-nominee and star of Waitress and the Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. She's completely off the grid when it comes to social media... no piece can be found online. Nevertheless, he is wildly successful.

But can social media help you on your journey?

of course.

And I, personally, can testify to this.

Some of my favorite projects I've ever worked on have come from the connections I make online. In fact, the last recording I did was because of an Instagram DM. A literal direct message... and the rest is history!

Today, we are discussing all things social media for actors: and the best platforms you should try today!

1. Instagram

Instagram is one of the best free resources that an actor can use. Not only can you post beautiful photos to your feed, but you can also use features like Stories and Reel to show off your authentic self. Just make sure everything you share aligns with who you are!

I've built some meaningful relationships on the platform, from friendships to real job opportunities within the industry.

2. YouTube

I believe the next platform every actor should have is YouTube. It's not about how many subscribers you can have, or how often you upload a video - it's about the quality of the content you provide.

Do you have up-to-date videos to share on YouTube? Or the last thing you posted 7 years ago when you starred in your high school show? It might be time to replace it with some new material. Share your latest song covers, your reels, whatever you do best.

3. Facebook & Tiktok

If you are looking to expand your reach online, TikTok is the way to go. By keeping the videos short and getting creative with what you do best, you will find it easier to grow TikTok than any other platform.

What exactly should you share on TikTok? Find your niche, and reach it. Start by working with how to make the most of viral challenges, trends, and popular songs… and experiment with the type of content you want to create. Then, get specific. write comedy? Showcase your drawings. write music? Perform your original songs. love fashion? Show off your best outfit. Have fun, don't overthink! The casual nature of the app is what makes it so captivating.
